Toothpaste pimple – Does it work?
Putting toothpaste on pimple is a home remedy that generations of people have tried, and for some, it has been a success. Although not everyone believes that the toothpaste has any effect on the skin problem, others believe that it is a fantastic, affordable cure. Skin problems, pimples and acne are unique to the sufferer, therefore, what works for one person may not necessarily work for another. However, using toothpaste is worth a try and you never know, it might work.
Although using toothpaste may be strange, there are several elements within the toothpaste that have been proven to help with acne and pimples. The ingredients that are used in the toothpaste will dry your skin and allow the pimples to clear up. Often you will find that you have pimples and acne due to your skin being in a bad condition. Oily skin can cause pimples and acne to be far worse; therefore, you need to find a product that can help with this problem.
Using the toothpaste is not a long term miracle cure and people tend to use it as a quick fix for the odd pimple that may have appeared. If you find that your pimples and acne are getting worse, you must stop using the toothpaste immediately. Before rushing out and covering your face in toothpaste, there are several different things which you will need to consider. Not all toothpastes are the same; therefore, you will need to research the different brands and ingredients.
What toothpaste you typically brush your teeth with may not be suitable for your pimple treatment as it could be too harsh. Although the ingredients may be excellent for your teeth, they may not be as good for your skin. Basic regular white toothpaste has been proven to be the most effective type of toothpaste to use. You can try the brand that you are using, but if it has no effect, trying other brands is recommended.
The ingredients in the toothpaste play a huge factor in the overall results when applied to the pimple. Fluoride is often used in toothpaste, which can in fact cause your pimples and acne to get worse, and become inflamed. You should try and find toothpaste that has no or very little fluoride present. Baking soda is another element in toothpaste; however, this one is great for pimples and acne. Having this ingredient present will help to dry out and exfoliate the skin, which is ideal when you suffer from skin problems.
How To Apply Toothpaste On Pimple
Once you have found a toothpaste to try with the right ingredients, you will need to prepare for the application of the toothpaste. You will need to wash and cleanse your face before applying the toothpaste to ensure that your skin is clean and ready for the treatment. As your hands carry a huge amount of dirt and bacteria, you will be advised to wear gloves whilst applying the toothpaste. If you do not have any gloves, you can use a clean facial sponge.
Less is definitely more when applying the toothpaste and you will need to ensure that you do not put too much on your face. You should place a small amount of toothpaste on the glove or sponge and gently apply it to the pimple. By gently massaging the area with the toothpaste, you are encouraging blood circulation and helping to remove the impurities from the area. The toothpaste should be a thin layer, and only covering the pimple.
Once you have applied the toothpaste you will need to leave it for several hours, or overnight, whichever is convenient. You should feel a cool and refreshing feeling on your face, if it begins to hurt or burn you must remove the toothpaste. After the selected time, you will need to remove the toothpaste, which can be done very easily. It can either be gently peeled off the area, or washed with a mild soap.
Although your pimple may be reduced, it may not have cleared up completely, however, if you can see improvements repeating the process again is worth a try. The results that you see will vary from person to person, and it also depends on the severity of your pimples. Using toothpaste on pimple is a simple and affordable way to help treat them at home.
